Is renting an RV and spending a week in the woods your favorite way to unplug and relax? RV camping is the best way to experience new places and spend time together with the ones you love. However, unwanted guests can easily ruin an otherwise good time and make you wish you’d stayed home. Fortunately, at Unlimited RV, we have the answer in the form of just a few tips you can implement to keep the pests out of your RV on your next trip.
1. Pack a Mesh Screen Door
There are several mesh screen doors on the market that work great for RV travel. Essentially, it is a mesh door that closes immediately behind you with magnets each time you walk through it. This way, you won’t have to worry about closing the door quickly each time you (or your kids) go through the RV door to avoid bugs following you in. The best part about this type of door is that all you have to do is hang it up and your RV will be bug-free!
2. Don’t Leave Garbage Out
This may seem obvious to some, but an important part of keeping the pests at bay is not to attract them to your campsite in the first place. Taking out your garbage right away is the best way to prevent bugs from flying around it or rodents trying to get into it. If you can’t dispose of your garbage right away, consider freezing it in your freezer so pests can’t smell it.
3. Check Your RV for Holes
At Unlimited RV, all of our RV rentals are meticulously maintained so you won’t need to worry about holes or cracks when you rent from us. However, if you own your RV and it’s older, it’s a good idea to check for any damage that could be letting in unwanted pests. Many bugs, especially ants and spiders can find their way in through holes or cracks in your RV and make your trip less enjoyable. Before you head out on your next trip, check your whole rig for cracks or holes and use caulk or a silicone filler to fill in any gaps you find.
